Guarding Against Sin ©

By Akiva G. Belk

This study of mysticism in Hebrew Gematria is dedicated in the loving memory of Mr. Gary and Mr. Donald Belk, may they rest in peace. If you would like to dedicate a Gematria lesson for our cyberspace class in the memory of a dear friend or loved one we will do this for a gift of Chai, $18.00 American dollars.

Gematria is a particular study of Jewish mysticism based on the numerical value of Hebrew letters in the Aleph Bais (Hebrew alphabet) as inscribed in the Torah. Jewish Gematria has many disciplines.

One of the great challenges for B'nei Yisroel upon entering Eretz Canaan was to remain pure after ridding the land of abominable customs. These customs existed in Mitzriam. These abominations surrounded them while living in the BaMidbar. Yet the abominable customs could not be permitted in Eretz Canaan. Jews had to separate from these iniquities. Jews had to live by a higher standard. Christians / Messianics would have the world believe that G-d did away with these requirements with the New Testament, but that is not so. Hashem's Commands are still in effect today. In fact Hashem charged B'nei Yisroel, "You {B'nei Yisroel} shall keep My watch that you shall not do any of the abominable customs that were done before you and you will not defile yourselves through them. I am Hashem, your G-d!"

We as Jews are commanded to "keep My {Hashem's} watch." How are we to do this? Well, simply put, we stand guard over our lives, over our family, over our neighbor, over our house, over our block, over our community, over our city and over our nation...

The point is that we are our keeper and we are our brother's keeper.

Hashem chose us, the Jewish people, as His people. Hashem chooses Eretz Yisroel as the earthly location for His {Hashem's} dwelling place, the Bais HaMikdosh, the Holy Temple. Both are to be holy! Holiness is separation. Holiness is a division that is accomplished by observing the Torah. We Jews are careful to guard our complete Torah observance, then we are dividing ourselves, then we are separating ourselves for holiness. For Jews this is accomplished through Torah observance. For non Jews this is accomplished through observance of the Seven Noaich Commands.

Now to suggest that the Tenach is replaced by The New Testament which has NO ORIGINAL VERSION, which has NUMEROUS ERRORS {over 150,000 according to Christian / Messianic scholars} and which depends heavily upon NON SUPPORTED, NON COLLABORATED and UNNAMED WITNESSES, is a blatant sham! Nowhere in the New Testament does it specifically mention these twenty-three commands {prohibitions} of Hashem that are required to separate Eretz Yisroel from the other people and lands of the world!

The Torah DOES NOT REQUIRE non Jews to follow or fulfill its Commands with the exception of the Seven Noaich Commands. In fact the formula for holiness given by Hashem to B'nei Yisroel for Eretz Yisroel CAN ONLY BE FULFILLED BY JEWS LIVING IN ERETZ YISROEL! Even if non Jews lived in Eretz Yisroel and strictly observed these twenty-three Torah commands it would NOT FULFILL the basic requirements of making Eretz Yisroel a "HOLY LAND or of "SEPARATING ERETZ YISROEL" unto Hashem! Non Jews cannot serve in or around the Bais HaMikdosh, no matter how holy they are! Non Jews cannot be a Levi or a Kohen! In fact Jews born into a family that is not a Levi or Kohen cannot serve in or around the Bais HaMikdosh either, no matter how holy they are!

WHY?

Hashem set a standard between B'nei Yisroel and the other nations. Hashem set a standard between B'nei Yisroel and the Levium. Hashem set a standard between the Levium and the Kohenim! That standard is by birth! Each standard requires a greater degree of separation, holiness. That standard cannot be achieved through any other means. No amount of learning or number of degrees will achieve that standard set down in the Torah by Hashem! No amount of holiness will achieve that standard set down by Hashem in the Torah!

The New Testament discards these Torah standards! The New Testament eliminates these standards! The followers of the New Testament claim that the New Testament supersedes the Old Testament, the Tenach! The New Testament teaches that every believer in Jesus is a Kohen. The New Testament teaches that Jesus is the Kohen Godal, the High Priest, even though he was not born into the family of a Levi or a Kohen!

It is for these very reasons and others that Hashem said to B'nei Yisroel "'that you shall not do any of the abominable customs that were done before you and you will not defile yourselves through them.'" Leviticus 18:30 That is why Hashem charged B'nei Yisroel to guard, to protect, to keep the watch of His Commands. That is why we as Jews REJECT ANY NOTION THAT THE TORAH IS FULFILLED, THAT THE TORAH IS COMPLETED, THAT THE TORAH IS SUPERSEDED! It is our responsibility to guard every mitzvah of the Torah!

The Gematria for Vi Loh See Tamoo Baw Hehm, meaning "and you shall not defile yourselves through them {any of the abominable customs...}, is 540.

{From Right to Left}

Vi Loh See Tamoo Baw Hehm

Vi Loh
37 =
Aleph = 1 + Lamid = 30 + Vav = 6

See Tamoo
456 = Vav = 6 + Aleph = 1 + Mem = 40 + Tes = 9 + Sav = 400

Baw Hehm
47 =
Mem = 40 + Hey = 5 + Bais = 2

540 = 37 + 456 + 47

The Gematria for Shi Mawr {Shomer}, meaning "Guard", meaning "Keep", meaning "Observe" is also 540.

{From Right to Left}

Shi Mawr / Shaw Mar
540 =
Reish = 200 + Mem = 40 = Shin = 300

Not only are we to guard all of the mitzvahs in the sense of carefully observing them, but we are to guard against any form of thought or instruction of eliminating them or superseding them! Observing the commands are what makes us Jews and what makes our land, Eretz Yisroel, the holy land!
